چکیده

There are many interesting and challenging problems in the area of classical eld theories. This area has attracted the attention of algebraists, geometers, and topol-ogists in the past and has begun to attract more analysts. Analytically, the area ooers all types of diierential equation problems which come from the two basic sets of equations in physics describing fundamental interactions, namely, the Yang{Mills equations governing electromagnetic, weak, and strong forces, reeecting internal symmetry , and the Einstein equations governing gravity, reeecting external symmetry. Of course, a combination of these two sets of equations gives us a theory which couples both symmetries and uniies all forces. In these lectures, I will present some of the problems that I have been interested in which involve elliptic equations. 1 Self-dual cosmic strings Cosmic strings arise as nite-energy static solutions of the coupled Einstein and Yang{ Mills{Higgs equations in which the gravitational metric housed over a Riemann surface M and eld conngurations are independent of time and a third vertical variable. Such a structure leads to energy and curvature concentrations at the centers of strings, around which matter accretion takes place, which provides a mechanism for galaxy formation. Mathematically, Abelian self-dual strings are well understood. Let us begin with the Abelian Higgs model for which the energy density and momentum tensor are given by

Effect of Magnetic Field and a Mode-I Crack 3D-Problem in Micropolar Thermoelastic Cubic Medium Possessing Under Three Theories

A model of the equations of two dimensional problems in a half space, whose surface in free of micropolar thermoelastic medium possesses cubic symmetry as a result of a Mode-I Crack is studied. There acts an initial magnetic field parallel to the plane boundary of the half- space. The crack is subjected to prescribed temperature and stress distribution. The formulation in the context of the Lor...

Information field theory

Non-linear image reconstruction and signal analysis deal with complex inverse problems. To tackle such problems in a systematic way, I present information field theory (IFT) as a means of Bayesian, data based inference on spatially distributed signal fields. IFT is a statistical field theory, which permits the construction of optimal signal recovery algorithms even for nonlinear and non-Gaussia...

The Nonlinear Bending Analysis for Circular Nano Plates Based on Modified Coupled Stress and Three- Dimensional Elasticity Theories

In this paper, the nonlinear bending analysis for annular circular nano plates is conducted based on the modified coupled stress and three-dimensional elasticity theories. For this purpose, the equilibrium equations, considering nonlinear strain terms, are calculated using the least energy potential method and solved by the numerical semi-analytical polynomial method. According to the previous ...

Investigation of Linear and Nonlinear Buckling of Orthotropic Graphene Sheets with Nonlocal Elasticity Theories

In this paper, analysis of linear and nonlinear buckling of relatively thick orthotropic graphene sheets is carried out under mechanical load based on elasticity theories. With the help of  nonlocal elasticity theory, the principle of virtual work, first order shear theory and Von-Karman nonlinear strain, the dominant relationship in terms of obtained displacements has been obtained, and the me...

Gradient Flow in Logarithmic Conformal Field Theory

We establish conditions under which the worldsheet β-functions of logarithmic conformal field theories can be derived as the gradient of some scalar function on the moduli space of running coupling constants. We derive a renormalization group invariant version of this function and relate it to the usual Zamolodchikov C-function expressed in terms of correlation functions of the worldsheet energ...

Applications of Massive Integrable Quantum Field Theories to Problems in Condensed Matter Physics

We review applications of the sine-Gordon model, the O(3) non-linear sigma model, the U(1) Thirring model, and the O(N) Gross–Neveu model to quasi one-dimensional quantum magnets, Mott insulators, and carbon nanotubes. We focus upon the determination of dynamical response functions for these problems. These quantities are computed by means of form factor expansions of quantum correlation functi...
